Climbing Ability and Position of D. melanogaster Pupae that Have Been Exposed to Lead for Generations 1 Department of Biology Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (Jl. Raya Tlogomas 246 Malang 65144) Abstract Cases of environmental pollution caused by lead are increasing day by day. The purpose of this study was to analyze the behavior of D. melanogaster who had been exposed to lead. D. melanogaster wildtype strain which had been exposed to lead for 10 generations at concentrations of 1000 ppm, 1500 ppm, and 2000 ppm were selected as research subjects. After five generations of exposure were discontinued, tests of climbing ability and duration of climbing of adult D. melanogaster were performed, as well as observation of the pupation position of D. melanogaster. The results of data analysis using one-way ANOVA informed that the difference in lead concentration had a significant effect on climbing ability but had no significant effect on the length of time to climb and the position of the pupa. In conclusion, differences in lead exposure levels do not always have a significant effect on all behavioral parameters.
