Abstract

Zingiber Cassumunar Roxb. has pharmacological activity as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, neuroprotective, and antibacterial activity. Extraction by conventional methods is relatively less effective than bangle rhizome (Zingiber Cassumunar Roxb.). Therefore, this study aims to optimize the conditions of microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) using the Box-Behnken (BBD) design response surface method. The independent variables observed were the ratio of ingredients/solvent (w/v), ethanol solvent concentration (%), and extraction time (minutes). Meanwhile, the responses measured were total phenol, total flavonoid, and antioxidant activity. The results showed that the range of optimized independent variables was the ratio of ingredients/solvent (w/v) 1:10, 1:15, 1:20, solvent concentration of ethanol 60%, 70%, 80%, and extraction time of 5, 15, 25 minutes.
